We are excited to offer a 9 week mini series of Acrobatic classes for Beg/Int and Int/Adv levels with the talented Toby Towson! This is a great way for our students to learn valuable skills and tricks to better their overall technique in a fun atmosphere! 


The 9 week mini series will start September 22nd, 2017 and run through November 17th, 2017. These classes will be offered on Friday evenings during the below times:

Beg/Int Level- 5:00-5:45pm

Int/Adv. Level 5:45-7:00pm


Price- $10.00 per class! (The full payment of $90.00 is due upon registering)






  •  I taught myself to walk on my hands after watching 1956 Olympics on television especially motivated by Larissa Latynina and Polina Ashtikova.
  •  Competitive diving coached by U of Illinois diver, Joe Huyler, 1958-1960.
  •   Joined the Blue Mound Gymnastic Club in Blue Mound, IL, coached by Ginny Sheriff and her husband, Rev. Hal Sheriff, 1960-1965.



  • Michigan State University, 1965-1969 with gymnastics scholarship from 1966-69, earning a B.A. in clinical psychology with honors including Phi Beta Kappa. 
  • First place, National AAU men’s floor exercise champion, 1966/68/69/70; 3 times floor champion at Midwest Open, Chicago’s Navy Pier; first place men’s floor Big Ten championships, 1967/68/69; NCAA floor exercise champion, 1968 (tie with Sid Freudenstein), 1969.
  • I started formal dance training at Michigan State with Dixie Durr and the MSU Orchesis Dance group.  I left college with a scholarship to study ballet with Joffery Ballet Studio in NYC.



  • Cliff Keuter Dance Company and Elina Mooney Dance Company, 1972-1976; also performed professionally with Phoebe Neville, Barbara Roan, Irene Feigenheimer, and Liz Thompson.
  • Original coaching staff at Woodward Gymnastics Camp, Woodward, PA, first eight years, 1972-79.
  • Formed the Musawwir Gymnastic Dance Company (a non-profit corporation) as co-director with Richard Martin and Lynn Perrott, 1975-1984, and as director from 1985-1992. Musawwir toured the east coast and midwest USA, performed in numerous dance festivals and concerts in NYC, and also toured in Switzerland.  Musawwir Company performed at the Athletes’ Village Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, 1980.  Toby performed a solo acrobatic dance at the opening ceremonies of the International Olympic Committee (the performance took place right after American Secretary of State Cyrus Vance told the I.O.C. that the USA would boycott the summer Olympics in Soviet Union).
  • Dance clinician and choreographer for elite gymnast Kelly McCoy of TWIGS gymnastics, Dayton, Ohio, head coach Tom Jones. 1977-79.
  •  Worked with Jim Henson and the Muppets to create the original Barkley the Muppet Dog and performed for one year on Sesame Street for Children’s Television Workshop, 1979.
  •   Clinician and performer in USGF national tour with Elvira Saadi and others, 1980s.
  •  Author of regular monthly column for International Gymnast magazine during the editorship of Muriel Grossfeld, approximately 1982-83.
  •  Performed in Madison Sq. Garden with Kathy Rigby and SCATS, approximately 1974; performed solo acrobatic dance in exhibition at American Cup, approximately 1977; also helped to stage and choreograph a break dance exhibition at American Cup, approximately 1984 (the year Li Ning competed for China).
  • I worked for Swiss Gymnastics Federation as warm up and floor exercise coach of the Swiss Men’s National Gymnastics Team prior to the 1983 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where the Swiss men qualified to compete as a team at the 1984 Olympics.  I also helped Swiss gymnast, Romi Kessler on floor exercise in preparations for the 1984 Olympics where she placed 5th in floor finals.
  • Summer 1983, German Gymnastics Federation summer camp for boys’ gymnastics, Friedrickshafen am die Boden See.
  • Tour of German cities including performance at German National Championships in Hamburgh, hosted by Eberhart Gienger.
  • 1983: performer with American group (Arizona State University - Don Robinson) at World Gymnaestrada, Zurich, Switzerland.


  •  Participant and choreographer of USGF American Group at 1999 World Gymnaestrada, Gothenburg, Sweden.
  • Solo performer in exhibition at the 1985 Montreal World Gymnastics Championships after competition before results were announced (this routine is on YouTube).
  • Choreographed hundreds of floor exercise routines for Junior Olympic athletes in artistic gymnastics, 1972-2015.
  • Rhythmic coach of national team member, Wendy Hilliard, and dance teacher for USGF National Rhythmic program, 1986-87.


  •  Dance coach and choreographer for Kelli Hill at Hill’s Gymnastics, Gaithersburg, MD, 1992-1994, during which time I was responsible for Dominique Dawes ballet training, compulsory floor and beam.
  • National USGF (USAG) TOPs program formation with Muriel Grossfeld, 1993-2000, including all testing and training camps, Eastern, Western, and National Clinics.
  •  Recruited, trained, and certified Elite Judge, 1993-1996.  National judge, 1996-Current.
  •  Dance coach and choreographer at Fairyland Gymnastics, MD, 1998-2000, director, Chip Harris.
  •  Earned a M. Ed. from University of Maryland, 1994-95.
  •  Elementary school teacher in Montgomery County, Md, 1995-2001
  •  Women’s Division III college gymnastics coach, Wilson College, 2001-2004.  (We improved from last place rated team in the NCAA to next to last place and felt like winners.)
  •   Elementary, Middle, and High School dance teacher in Washington County, MD (first full time dance teacher in the county).
  • Ballet and floor exercise coach at Frederick Gymnastics, Frederick, MD, head coach Larissa Firestone, 2007-2010.
  •  2007; performed with wife Kathy Talbott as King of Siam and Anna from “The King and I” in choreography by Diane Floyd with Skyview Gymnastics at World Gymnaestrada in Dornbirn, Austria.
  • 2015: performed with wife, Kathy Talbott, and our three daughters and Skyview Gymnastics at World Gymnaestrada in Hellsinki, Finland.
  • 2014-Currently, adjunct dance teacher at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, a public high school devoted to the performing arts with 41 dance students, Hagerstown, MD.
  • 2013 - Solo acrobatic dance exhibition, “Alphabet Dance,” in Chicago, IL at the World Championship of Wheel Gymnastics.
  • 2013 - performs duet edition of the Alphabet Dance with nine year old daughter, Ella, in exhibition on podium at the beginning of the USAG National Championships in Pittsburgh, PA. (video available on request).
  • 2008-Currently -  performs a 40 minute assembly program in Maryland elementary schools, “Alphabet Dancer” based on making the shapes of the 26 letters of the alphabet with my body.  The show also involves yoga, physical exercise, and singing.
